These two informational texts, recommended for grades 6-8 by edhelper.com, will provide students with a foundation for studying the Holocaust by providing background on Nazism and the man behind the party's success - Adolf Hitler. By familiarizing themselves with Hitler's anti-semitic beliefs and his desire for a strong, independent, and racially pure Germany, the students will begin to form and understanding as to how and why Hitler was so successful and eagerly followed during World War II. These documents will be introduced before beginning our whole class reading of Night.
